The EcoCougars

Uzair Ikram, is an eighth grade student honor roll student at PS#5 school. He has participated in various extracurricular activities including: Black History Month Bowl, Scholastic Bowl, Lego Robotics, School band. He is also a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society. Uzair has been working in collaboration with a team of fellow eighth graders as part of the “Conti Eco-Cougars. Uzair designed and created a survey that was sent out to the community on water usage. He also has played an integral role in the collection and analysis of the collected data. Uzair and his teammates had the opportunity to present the Water Conservation Action Plan in a City Council Meeting at City Hall. Uzair will be attending McNair Academic High School in the fall.

Steve Vazquez, is an eighth grade honor roll student at PS#5 school. He has participated in various extracurricular activities including: Lego Robotics, the Lexus Eco Challenge and the Scholastic Bowl team. He is also a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society. Steve has been working in collaboration with a team of fellow eighth graders as part of the “Conti Eco-Cougars. He designed and created the project website as well as edited the video the team created to present their findings. Steve and his teammates had the opportunity to present the Water Conservation Action Plan in a City Council Meeting at City Hall. Steve will be attending McNair Academic High School in the fall.

 

Janelle Perez, is an eighth grade student who has been at PS#5 school since Pre-K. She is actively involved in the school participating in the Drama Club, Track Team as well as the Lego Robotics Team. Janelle has been working in collaboration with a team of fellow eighth graders as part of the “Conti Eco-Cougars.” Janelle has been responsible for researching and compiling the scientific data that was collected. She has also created and designed posters raising awareness on water conservation. Janelle and her teammates had the opportunity to present the Water Conservation Action Plan in a City Council Meeting at City Hall.

Angelic Aviles, is an eighth grade special needs self contained student. She is in the Artistically Talented Class where she gets to put into practice one of her passions. She works in collaboration with the general education eighth grade students and is part of the “Conti Eco-Cougars.” Angelic designed and created a scale model of a water harnessing system to water the school’s garden that was approved by her teammates. Angelic and her teammates had the opportunity to present the Water Conservation Action Plan in a City Council Meeting at City Hall.
